Tell The Story

Clients Testimonies

For over 40 years I suffered from alcoholism. I have been to countless other programs, from the best to the worst. I loss everything, family, friends, home, literally everything. It was here at the Los Angeles Transition Center where I connected with God and became clean and sober.

The Los Angeles Transition Center is unique in how they work with people. They sincerely will not give up on trying to help. I’ve been to other programs where someone stumbles and they get kicked out. But LATC is willing to give you the time needed to change. And for someone like me, I needed time to change.

The director, guided by God’s word created hope within me. I will never forget how the director was willing to allow me to take on certain responsibilities at the program. Nobody ever trusted me before. Now I am living a healthy meaningful life. I truly thank God for placing me at the Los Angeles Transition Center where I continue to volunteer.

My name is Kelvin K. I first came to the Los Angeles Transition Center back in 1996. I originally came to the program after 20 years of drug/alcohol abuse and a prolong period of being homeless.

I had tried to stop many times on my own to stop drinking and using, even tried a couple of other rehabilitation facilities, but there was not a emphasis placed on faith in God as a solution to my chronic drug/alcohol problem.

I wish I could say that I came in and a miracle happened, but it wasn’t like that. I initially relapsed a couple of times in early recovery, but our Pastor, Henry Zachery, never gave up on me. What he did was took me under his wing and always encouraged me into not giving up. He also told me that as the Lord had revealed to him a vision for program, he also assumed me that I was a big part of that vision. All of a sudden, I began to believe that the Lord had a greater purpose for my life than drinking and using. But as a result of the Pastors spiritual guidance and his unwillingness to give up on me, my life has been transformed. So I’ve been with the Center now for about 2 ½ decades and live to be of service to our clients and give them direction as the Pastor was there for me.

People seem to do a lot better in life and in recovery when they know someone truly cares. This is something Pastor Zachery has instilled in myself and the rest of the staff here at LATC. I’m elated to know that God had a purpose for me and I’m thankful and grateful that God has placed me in a position here at LATC to encourage people and see God change lives as he did mine.

I came to the Center approximately three years ago. I was lost and confused. I did not know what to do. I had lost all self respect for myself. I did not really care what happened to me. I disowned my family because they wanted to control me and I had just lost my father whom died in my arms on my birthday.

I have totally turned my life around with the help of Pastor Zachery and all the love through Christ. I’m now a staff volunteer at the Center. I enjoy what I do helping others at the Center.

I came to LATC over a year ago with no positive thoughts or action. My understanding of life there was none. I came with the hope of change in my life where I thought there would never be.

Being here has gave me a new outlook of life. A heart full of love that came from God. I thank Pastor and his program of love, understanding and prayer which has changed my life. My new outlook on life has motivated me to want more, not just myself, but for life and everyone that I come in contact with. And that in itself was a blessing. From my being in prison I can see a growth in my self that I’m very proud of.

I thank the Lord for bring me to LATC. I thank the people that has not gave up on me,,, my family. Most of all I give all the praise to the Lord.
